News/Bio

As the youngest of four children from a family in the garment manufacturing business, Amy Byer was the inspiration for a line of trendy sportswear and fashionable dresses for young girls. Today, the Amy Byer label, from the Byer California apparel company, is one of the nation's best-selling lines of fashion-forward clothing for girls age 5-12.

While her role in fashion evolved (in high school she created and sold hand-painted personalized T- shirts), it was her life-long love of music that decided her career choice. Amy graduated from the University of Southern California with a bachelor's degree in communications and started her music career as Manager of Licensing and Administration at All Nations Music (a major music publisher in Los Angeles which was purchased by MCA music publishing in 1997). She was responsible for mechanical/sync licensing for major music catalogs such as: Henry Mancini, Steve Allen, and The Gatlin Brothers. This experience, and eight years of voice, dance, theater, and on-camera acting training, gave Amy the ground-floor knowledge to launch a career as a singer and songwriter. Amy Byer has completed a two year songwriting program with "Writing Music For Hit Songs" author Jai Josefs. In addition, she also holds a certificate in songwriting from the extension program at the University of California, Los Angeles.

In 1996, Amy began singing and songwriting full time. She wrote and produced the pop music single, "LOOKIN' GOOD," the first cassette single from Amy Byer Music and the culmination of the business and creative sides of Amy Byer. To support the single, she embarked on a U.S. tour promoting the cassette single alongside her namesake clothing line.

In July, 1997, Amy completed the full-length album, "LOOKIN' GOOD," based on the successful title cut. The CD was sold exclusively in JC PENNEY stores nationwide for back-to-school 1997. Amy then embarked on a "Back-to-School" tour with live appearances at JC PENNEY stores to promote the CD and the Amy Byer fall line. There was such a great response from kids and parents at the appearances that Amy began to offer Fashion & Music birthday parties to her fans. From 1997 to 2001 Amy and her team would come to your home and host a live fashion & music show, the birthday girl and her guests being the stars of the show.

1998 brought the completion of Amy Byer's second album entitled "ONCE IN A LIFETIME." It is a compilation of four original love songs inspired by the love songs of Titanic. "ONCE IN A LIFETIME" features duets with model and artist Frank Bruno. In 1999, "YOU SING AMY BYER - THE LOOKIN' GOOD KARAOKE TRACKS" were made available.

Today, Amy lives in Florida with her husband, her 6 ½ year old daughter, and 3 ½ year old son. She is most focused on her family right now but is always looking for her next creative endeavor. Amy believes her ten years of playing competitive team soccer instilled in her the drive, determination, and confidence needed in accomplishing her goals
